Giant Lilies by redy4et

Giant Lilies

These oversize lily pads were almost eradicated in the past decade but now are making a comeback. They sometimes measure over five feet in diameter and the curled edges are quite unusual. Unfortunately you can't really get a sense of scale from this shot. They are native to Central America and produce bright flowers that only bloom for two days before withering. These were floating in the pond next to the colored lilies I posted yesterday. Best seen on black.
They are huge! Very cool look to them.

They are amazing love the curled up edges and colour. They have very similar and large ones in Mauritius too.
