Heron in the Southwest by redy4et

Heron in the Southwest

For several days in a row, I've noticed this Great Blue Heron standing at the edge of the pond around mid-day. Not only do they eat fish but also frogs, insects and small rodents. I was surprised to see this waterbird in the desert, more than a hundred miles from the coast but apparently they are common throughout the Southwest and are often found find stalking lakes and man-made ponds.
Beautifully framed in this gorgeous landscape.
