Observing the Night Sky

Last night the City of Rancho Mirage held an open house at it’s $4 million dollar observatory which houses a 27-inch Plane Wave remote-controlled telescope. My husband is an amateur astronomer so he was anxious to take the tour. We saw the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. Inside the metallic dome, red lights provide for the best viewing of planetary and deep space objects.
A great image. My husband would have loved it too!

The red color makes this shot very intriguing.

Great shot. That would have really been fun to see. Guess they wouldn't let you put your camera up to the lens of the big scope. :-)
