Danny Thompson was born with the need to speed. He started car racing at the age of 9 with his father, Mickey Thompson, famed race car competitor whose hand- built, piston-powered car passed the 400-mph mark in 1960.
For the past 4 years , Danny has been re-building the nitro-fueled Challenger II and plans to try again to surpass the land speed record at Bonneville in August. I got the chance to meet Danny and see his amazing racing vehicle today in Huntington Beach when he gave a private tour to members of a local car club.
