After a lunch out with friends they took us to one of the local sights. At some port around 1700, the Roundhouse Jail (The Cage) was built in Shenley, Hertfordshire and was almost immediately put to use as an overnight jail. Inmates had to be fed and watered by their relatives, through a small barred window. In its time it was a jail for a host of miscreants including
animal robbers, highwaymen and murderers
That’s a very unique and intriguing prison! I’ll google this, it’s caught my fancy.
Nice capture, the reflection of the building and of the grasses is great.
