Fortunately, having given up chocolate doesn’t affect Clare’s birthday cake of choice: spice with buttercream frosting. But actually, it’s a bit less about the cake than it is about the frosting, which is homemade! (It’s her mom’s frosting recipe and it’s a gem!)

@digitalrn Oh, it is out of this world! And it’s not terribly hard; just time-consuming. Sometimes I have to guard the bowl from a poacher until the cake has actually been frosted… ;)
