Natural fireworks

This is a “mum” or chrysanthemum right next to our house. I’ve been watching it to get a shot like this. The image I was initially going to upload had two full blooms in frame: the open one on the left and the still-tightly-balled bud on the right. But zooming in more on the open bloom captures more of the “explosive” appearance of these common, but lovely flowers. I hope you like it!

@digitalrn Thanks so much, Rick. One of the reasons I’ve been watching this particular plant is because of the pale purple color. (Or “light urple” for the SNL fans out there!)

A pretty burst of color.

The effects really give it a cool perspective, and you are right, it is like an explosion. It pops right off the page at you.

@abbeeocomcast @harley84 @exposure4u @melaniek @michelleyoung Thank you, all! It's been interesting watching how some of the flowers in our garden open up. Marigolds and mums eventually have a similar-looking "open" state, but the way they arrive is quite different!

@snipsnap Now *this* one I did like, too; thank you, Ramona! The pre-365project.org me would *not* have thought to shoot (or crop to) just part of the bloom here, but I think this is a better image than the full bloom would have been!
