History. This patch of exposed brick roadbed is on the road that leads to the gym, so I drive over it most every day. It was only recently that I “saw” it and thought that “history” is like this with layers upon layers of events and eras covering the past.
The freshmen in my class this semester may have been born in 1993 or ’94, so what events have marked my life that are just part of the “history” they have learned or will learn? Ten years ago on 9.11.2011 they were 8 or 9. I was 7 when JFK was assassinated and I remember my mom’s reaction when *I* broke the news to *her*, but obviously I wasn’t “plugged in” to a broader context…
