Replacement arrives just in time!

Sure, I have prescription glasses. But my CliC readers have been sort of an identifier for me since Clare got me my first pair several years ago. (She got the idea from the character of “Sid,” a medical examiner, on “CSI NY”.) Over Christmas break, I broke the CliC I’d had for several years. The previous pair may have been the pair I left in a bin at De Gaulle in Paris. In December it seemed silly to get another pair with an eye doctor appointment coming in 3 weeks. (If it moves and it isn’t supposed to: duct tape!)

It turned out that my eyes haven’t changed, so I ordered two more and I can leave the duct-taped set shown here in the car to take out on the water…

Are these the ones that break apart in the middle and hang in two pieces around your neck? I had not seen those until recently...my lawyer had them on and then halved them like that and I freaked out. Haha

@espyetta Those are the ones! When one of my nephews pulled them apart accidentally, he said, "Uh, oh, Uncle Thom. I b'oke your glasses." Nephew Nathan — born *on* 9/11/2001 — is hilarious!

@espyetta I *still* get comments: "Oh, COOL!" And it's still fun to see people's reactions!

@rhoing yeah...they are certainly a conversation starter! And practical too! I just wear my progressive lens prescip glasses all day now...so don't wear readers anymore. But I did like readers because they had a wider "sight line" to read and my glasses have more of a focal pinpoint I have to hit. so I almost can't scan e yes back and forth to read ,but have to move my head. I am used to it now I guess.

@espyetta When I read in bed, I have to grab the Rx glasses, which are progressive, because when you lean back against a pillow with the CliCs, the bar across the back of the head gets pushed against your head … and then the lenses get pushed away from your head in the front!

Well I must say, duct tape has been a handy thing many times. They should make it in colors so it matches better. There you go, a new idea Thom. Go for it.
