“Chlorochlamys phyllinaria” (Geometridae)

It was so hard to choose today! Photographed my first Variegated Fritillary (Euptoieta claudia) today, although it was in a campus garden. In the same campus garden, I also got another Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) with wings-down as well as some cool leaf- and seed-pod shots, but Clare also liked this one, which made me reconsider.

This is a variety of moth that apparently has no “common name” and BAMONA has no images in its image gallery! I’m not sure what those facts might mean, but I like this image just the same. This was taken in our front garden on some “Golden Carpet” (Sedum kamtschaticum).

Confirmed at BAMONA as Chlorochlamys phyllinaria (family Geometridae, subfamily Geometrinae); http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/743293

Nice shot and composition. I really like the gray moth against the green leaves and the fact that those are the only 2 colors in the shot.
