Travel day… by rhoing

Travel day…

Today was the 9½ hour drive from Carbondale to our home town of Royal Oak. I drove two hours, then Clare drove 7½ hours while I graded the graduate students’ “math-econ” exams.

We had dinner at Clare’s mom’s with her and then went for a walk. We went to the Christmas light extravaganza at Washington & 12 Mile Road. It’s pretty hard to capture the entire feeling, so here is merely an artsy shot of some light rope around a tree. I tweaked this a bit to de-emphasize the tree bark, but I chose to leave one “rogue” light…

This particular display was written up last year as having about 80,000 lights: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2011/12/01/80k-light-brighten-home-spirits-in-royal-oak/

I think you captured the most tasteful aspect of the display.
