At least it wasn’t a Sachem…

Since photo’ing a couple new skippers recently, I have been a bit — er — obsessed with finding new ones. Most I recognize as Sachem (“Atalopedes campestris”) or Fiery Skipper (“Hylephila phyleus”), but there are some I don’t recognize, so I “shoot first and ask questions (study them) later.”

I photo’ed a lot of skippers today and I was hopeful I had a new skipper, Arogos Skipper (“Atrytone arogos”). Alas, it was just another Sachem. Apparently I live in Sachem Heaven.

This is a Fiery Skipper and it’s my post because it let me get quite close and it’s a pretty sharp image with my new 60mm macro lens.

Confirmed at BAMONA as Hylephila phyleus or “Fiery Skipper”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/929509
