An historic day for the Church

As Pope Francis canonizes two former popes — John XXIII and John Paul II — on the same day. Today when I took off my Cursillo cross, I notice that one of the medallions given me by a Cursillo brother was beginning to tarnish. This medallion was brought back from Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, I think (thank you again, Bill!), and on the reverse is an image of Saint Paul. Two saints. It was easy to decide how to arrange the cross and medallion, given the manner of death usually attributed to Saint Peter (by his choice).
