This morning we had the rehearsal for tomorrow afternoon’s ceremony. Jenny’s only attendant will be her [younger] sister and Steve’s only groomsman will be his [older] brother. Here the sisters are having a chuckle over I-know-not-what. Probably what a pain their dad is with his cameras…
(At our own wedding, my only groomsman was my [younger] brother and Clare, as an only daughter, had her best-friend as her maid-of-honor. Simple. Uncomplicated. No hurt feelings.)
The father-of-the-bride’s thoughts during, and after, the rehearsal? Tomorrow’s wedding is no longer very abstract. It’s now beginning to feel quite “real”: One of my girls is getting married.
The day’s afternoon activities:
• Group I: Brewery tour (I did not go on this one).
• Group II: Waterbury tour at Ben & Jerry’s, Green Mountain Coffee, Cabot Cheese, Lake Champlain Chocolate and Cold Hollow Cider Mill. Lots of “samples”!
The rehearsal dinner was this evening, too. Dressing for this event is when I discovered that I failed to pack two belts: one for what I wore to the rehearsal dinner and — can you believe it? — one for the suit I’ll wear to the wedding tomorrow. Sigh…
This evening after the rehearsal dinner, Clare & I hosted a “welcome gathering” (in the facility’s three “salons,” located in the “Mansion” building)…
