Red letter day

(And a one-frame day.)
Taken down three weeks ago — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2015-06-18 — the block-cap letters are back … and red on both sides now! The original, south-east facing letters had faded to white, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2015-06-13
Next: The LED display boards.

It's always nice to hear when a community is willing to salvage places like this

Such a lovely old theatre! Does it have the big comfy rocking chair seats and that great sound system that makes the gunshots ring in the western movies?

@marlboromaam I am a director and the Board secretary for the non-profit trying to keep this place going and eventually make it self-sustaining. The original space has been broken into four spaces: two intimate theaters seating 135, a gathering space and concession area away from the front doors, and a 400-seat theater that is currently unusable for lack of HVAC. That big room is what we need to fill for the facility to become self-sustaining. The price tag for the HVAC, sound, lighting, electrical is about $300K. Currently we have “Virtual Varsity” live concerts on Saturdays; here's this Saturday's: https://www.facebook.com/events/329166031786883/

@rhoing They did the same to the old rocking chair theatre in my old hometown. It was taken over by the city of Sumter. The last movie I saw there was Dracula 1972 AD... Still I'd pay $20 to sit in those big plush rocking chairs with my popcorn to watch a classic movie with the old sound system and an usher to run off rude loud arsehole people.

@marlboromaam I tend to doze in those comfy seats!
