Total Solar Eclipse, 2017
An advantage to living in Carbondale, IL today!
My brother & his family and my sister & her husband came to witness the event with us.
It was a-w-e-s-o-m-e!!!

Only 2,422 days until April 8, 2024 when Carbondale is once again in the path of totality for a [total] solar eclipse!!

It was an awesome experience to witness the "totality" of a solar eclipse. Clare & I now understand why some people become "eclipse chasers"! Totality is so short — even though we had the longest duration in little ol' Carbondale (about 2'40") — first-timers can't possibly take in and watch-for all the nuances. I'm bummed I didn't capture either of the "diamond rings," so maybe we'll have to become eclipse-chasers ourselves! Didn't see Bailey's beads or the snakes or … But we're in the path of totality in 2024!
