Mantid by rhoing

Mantid

A female Carolina Mantis (“Stagmomantis carolina”).

I found this mantid on the patio.
I moved her to a bush where she might find food.
The next day I found her hanging limp on the bush. Perhaps she laid her eggs and that was the end of the line for her?

Confirmed at BugGuide as “Stagmomantis carolina” or “Carolina Mantis”; https://bugguide.net/node/view/1459382

Her egg sack is very interesting. I don't think I've seen that before.

Interesting. I'm not aware of their life cycles.
