Variegated Fritillary by rhoing

Variegated Fritillary

Muted fall colors, I think, but Euptoieta claudia I'm pretty sure.

From Encyclopedia of Life, http://eol.org/pages/158553/details » “Their flight is low and swift, but even when resting or nectaring, this species is extremely difficult to approach, and, because of this, its genus name was taken from the Greek word euptoietos meaning ‘easily scared.’”

Identifying, from BugGuide, https://bugguide.net/node/view/400#id » “Black-edged light spot near the center of the forewing helps to distinguish this from other fritillaries.”

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Euptoieta claudia” or “Variegated Fritillary”; https://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/1148729
