Inside of a ‘modern pocket watch’

This was a gift from my older daughter when she got married 7+ years ago. Battery-driven rather than mechanical, the battery has died — probably long since died. I thought I’d get this going again and wear it to work at the Habitat for Humanity house. Don’t see the battery, so it will go to Fremont, Ohio, where the clock shop downtown got my dad’s watch working again.

From “pocket watch” at Wikipedia: “They were the most common type of watch from their development in the 16th century until wristwatches became popular after World War I during which a transitional design, trench watches, were used by the military.” 16th century!

Interesting. I haven't looked at pocket watches lately. I have my grandfathers and it has to be wound. Are all the new ones battery operated?

Nice shot! My Papa always carried a pocket watch. I don't think he owned a wrist watch.
