Although this Concept2 “PM5” indoor rowing machine monitor connects to a Concept2 app via Bluetooth to record workout data, a computer is still necessary to update the internal firmware in the monitor on the rower. I can either insert a flash drive with the requisite installation software or I can connect a computer (presumably a laptop) to the monitor. I suppose what would be necessary to allow firmware updates without a computer would require that the monitor be able to connect to a wireless network over which it could connect to the C2 web site to find, download, and install the necessary software.
