So guess you know that I don't know what kind this one is. But it liked to run around in the edge of the surf, looking for whatever they look for in the water and sand.

Shorebirds are hard to identify. Looks like a sandpiper of some kind to me. Beautiful regardless!

I think this is a juvenile Ruddy Turnstone. They usually look plumper than that, but everything else checks out (leg color, bill shape, coloring etc.)
