Stapleford Park hotel just over the border in Leicestershire now a luxury hotel was actually a Lion reserve and miniature railway back in the 70's. The miniature steam railway still exists and in a normal year can be seen in steam on a couple of the bank holiday weekend's in the summer. You are however unlikely to see a lion!
how awful that they brought lions to a country so far away from their native habitat both in distance and the contrast of landscape and seasons. this is a beautifully composed shot
Haven’t been there for a long time. I believe it was the family seat of Lord Gretton? I seem to remember nursing the old Lord in the early 80s when I was a student nurse at Leicester.
