Moon photography is frustrating! i had a nice shot lined up of the moon rising behind a church. Unfortunately the cloud base just wouldn't budge so the time i couldn't see the moon it was already quite dark. At this point its more or less impossible to capture any moon details and the landscape as well so you get a blown out moon but some details of the landscape.
Terrific capture regardless! Have you tried using a tripod, one exposure for the moon, one for the landscape, then combine the images? It ain't easy, that's for sure!
