365 Days Wild - Day 134 (100 Days Happy - Day 21)

Ok, it's yet another mushroom, but slightly different today as this is a spore print I took overnight. A little work of art! I love these simple ways of exploring nature :)

Just in case you're interested, taking a spore print is really easy - and you only need a mushroom, some paper and a bowl. Some mushrooms leave white spores so you may need darker paper.

What an interesting thing to do. Are they like fingerprints all different?

@barrowlane yes I think they are. Different fungi have different coloured spores and some mushroom books have the fungi grouped by spore colour so it can be a useful first step for identifying a mushroom - or the determining factor if you're not sure between a couple of species. I just did this one for fun though!

I've done overlapping patterns of different species in my art group. You can 'fix' the pattern with hairspray. V pretty!

@jantan yes, this one isn't a keeper as the fungus was a little bit battered, I was just playing really! One day I might do a more arty version to keep!

Great capture. Nature is always amazing

how cool is that. I would never have guessed that you just let the mushroom sit there.

Lovely Louise. I've never seen this done before but it's such a clever idea and I love your photo of it.
