Wild October : Day 12 by roachling

Wild October : Day 12

It's extremely rare I get to do anything outdoors or nature based at school but this afternoon I had an hour off when I'd usually be teaching a phonics lesson and ended up supervising some outdoor play and instigating a bit of leaf art! This was a creation by a little boy, I made a leaf hedgehog which you can see in today's blog post.

I also admired lichen at lunch time and saved a field vole from a cat today!

He made a good blog of these. I love the light in your shots, what were the little upright things, presume they were the flowers coming up from the plant. I couldn't get back to the blog to re look, prob just me.

@jennywren They were the lichen, some kind of Cladonia species (cup lichens). I think the ones I saw might be the kind known as pixie cup lichen.
