Taking 120 years to build, (1506 to 1626), it is easily one of Rome’s most recognizable buildings.

You can see the Main altar in the background, designed by Bernini.

Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture according to Banister Fletcher. (renowned architectural historian)
