Posting an older image since it seems there is an undeclared butterfly theme recently. :) Taken in the Mammoth Lakes area of the Sierra Nevada mountains, in the vicinity of Rainbow Falls.
This is gorgeous -- I am green with envy; I have chased little blue butterflies around in 90+ degree heat yesterday and today trying to capture a pose like this one. I never did get a satisfactory one with wings open like this ..... So I'm really appreciating your pic right now as I sit in front of the air conditioning try to cool down from my exploits of chasing butterflies and hummingbirds.
(And thanks for the information about the sawfly larvae! I really didn't have the slightest clue what they are.)
