Dreary overcast day and poor conditions for photos, of course the tide was turning at this inlet near Bolsa Chica with more bird activity than I'd seen before. Terns, Pelicans and Gulls were diving on the bait fish. Managed to get this Tern just before the splash. The wetlands near this channel were preserved because of oil leases, preventing housing developments from covering the reserve. The technology that caused the gulf spill recently kept one of the last coastal marshes in Southern California from disappearing.
