This Allen's Hummingbird was busily defending his patch of Mexican Sage from any and all competing hummers. Including some larger Anna's. Each time he drove off the competition he would return to the patch and give me the once over before heading back to his guard perch in a neighboring Eucalyptus tree. This was about the third time, still not sure about the guy with the camera!
I'm so impressed with your last 2 hummingbird pictures -- I love the hummingbirds AND the color of the purple flower makes it all "pop".

I'm surprised they didn't dive-bomb you! Mine get quite brave about flying around my head...until the camera comes out, that is! Beautiful capture as always.
