Where I am in Canberra - Australia, we grow this it's called Pig Face. Actually it is (mesembryanthemum sp.) It is succlent groundcover tolerant of drought and heat. Can this be the same as you have here. I have it in this colour and also have Red, and Orange the last two are new additions to be planted probably tomorrow. One red in already, but have a couple of those. Also comes in Yellow. They like full sun, and will flower like this throughout the warmer months.
