Peering up through the pine boughs I saw somebody peeking back. One of the owlets, I think it's the younger one since he's still mostly downy. View large for best effect.
I am soooo jealous of your hummingbirds and owls! I know the hummingbirds will be back here soon, but I've never seen an owl. I've heard them, but I've never seen one at my house. I'll just have to enjoy your wonderful pics! :0)

@ellen Yup, a coffee break while setting mosquito traps. This is at a trap site, I knew the owls were there since I saw a photographer I knew set up near the tree they were in. Just took some eyeballing to find the chicks since they were roosting out of the nest. I know where another nest site is I'll be checking this weekend, maybe another couple of raptors as well.
I couldn't tell what it was by the thumbnail, I thought it was a nest and I was so excited when I opened it up and saw this owl staring at me. Phenomenal capture! I love it!!
