Hi Louise , Lesley and Batya - They are a great colour - and they look more spectacular because they drop all their leaves in summer. A bit back to front bit it makes them look fabulous. Thank you all for your comments. :)

@olivetreeann Thank you Ann - I don't know where they originally came from - do you have them in parts of the USA?

@fbailey They are pretty neat in summer - but not natives and they can spread quite easily into the bush. I don't know where they originally came from - I would guess somewhere hot...

@fbailey I did a Google:
Jacaranda trees are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Mexico, Central America, South America, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. I guess that's why theu're in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast - but not up here - we get frosts.

@robz I don't think so- but it seems to me that if we did have them, they'd be down south somewhere- like Florida or Georgia & Louisiana.
