The little guy wins..

The big sticks in this photo are spider legs - the dead spider killed by the little bright red guy!
I just fainted.......what a nightmare vision!!!

@fr1da Hi Frida - we do get a lot of redbacks but we weren't sure of this one. The pattern on its abdomen was a bit strange with all those stripes?

@jacqbb Hi Jacqueline - he was bad enough for that big spider!! I don't know what he planned to do with the big one - he'd be flat out ever eating it all.....

@rosie00 Lol Lesley - he was a scary little critter - especially seeing what he'd done to the big one!!

Oh my...never think of spiders as such killers

I'm no spider expert- and this is the way I prefer to see them if I'm not photographing them! I don't know if it's an Orb Weaver- they do have some pretty patterns on their backs but I had physical therapy today and then did the food shopping so now I'm too lazy to get up and go to the book shelf for the bug book! Maybe tomorrow... 'til then, this is a really nice close-up and that little fellow is certainly deceiving!

What the heck is that one Rob? I thought at first it was a red-back, but on second thoughts ditched that idea.

brrr, glad I didn't meet it

@olivetreeann Hi Ann - I'm pretty sure this wasn't an orb weaver - we do get them also and they are much larger - this guy was quite small. :)

@golftragic Hi Marnie - we do get redbacks but this one looked a bit different - those stripes weren't quite right. I'm afraid he got squashed anyway - he was too close to a window! :)

@overalvandaan Unfortunately he was quite cute before he got squashed!!

@robz Good think Rob, and s/he may have been a close cousin to a redback too.

I’m not spider phobic, but around here red on the back is something to stay way clear of because around here it is a black widow.
