Rule of Odds by robz

Rule of Odds

This is for the 52week challenge with the composition theme "Rule of Odds". I finally managed to catch some ducks on the dam (another story there) so used them to trial the theme - I know the top and bottom are supposed to be more pleasing - but I actually liked the middle one. The top one didn't seem to have enough room for the ducks to swim into, the bottom one just seemed unbalanced, maybe because they are in a straight line so the odd no. idea of balanced composition wasn't valid...
I rather like the top one - it's good to mess about with the 'rules' so you know why you might compose an image in a particular way I think :)

@777margo Hi Margo - I'm afraid I cheated - I wanted to experiment with their numbers and positions to see if the Rule of Odds made much difference. I only caught 3 of them and then added the others in in composite images. Thanks so much for your interest. Cheers Rob

@fbailey Yahoo - that was my original, first-ever catch of these darn ducks that sit on our dam! Usually they are too quick for me.. :)

Cool experiment. Good example of "rule of odds" and what happens when you break the rules...........Can't decide if I like middle or bottom best! :)
