The smoke gets in your eyes..

And makes strange things happen. This is the setting sun about an hour before sunset - but with a very strong smoke haze covering our region.

Thick smoke from the fires does make the sun look strange doesn't it, but it makes a great photo opportunity.

That is an incredible picture, not just because of the colour of the sun, but also because of the composition giving importance to the dark branches trying to catch the sun.

@onewing Hi Babs - it was weird - and what was even more weird was that my camera really did not want to catch that colour. I can't remember what I eventually got to work but it was really trial and error to get the colour to appear - it was mainly just a rim of pink around white! :)

@robz its been very hazy around the hills.. we are on the West Coast 1 hour South of Auckland.. Some of the sunset/rises have been more colourful..
