Yes or No? by robz

Yes or No?

The viewing platform was about 3m back from this avid photographer. He jumped the fence and set up in just the right spot for a long exposure photo. Two sets of people came to see the sights - and saw them with him included!
That's what telephoto lenses are for.

I wouldn’t risk falling in or dropping my equipment.

I think having him in the photo adds interest!

He is keen, I think I would have ended up in the water if I'd have attempted that. You got a really interesting storytelling photo out of his adventures though.

Great catch- lucky for him he didn't get caught!

Beautiful!

I would be doing exactly what he did! A telephoto can't capture the wide angle view I would want for that shot. I like the image with him in it, though. Tells a story!

A bit rude with others taking shots though.

Very beautiful place to visit!1

Fav. The scenery is magnificent even without him. With him it is much more. He must be an expert photographer from the way he has set himself up to take pictures of the area.

Incredibly lush landscape. I wish I could be there. Nice story too. fav

It's a beautiful landscape and he adds a point of interest. On the other hand the viewing platforms are in place to protect both people and the environment and it irks me when people think that the rules don't apply to them.

Wonderful, fav

Oh what a beautiful place< I like your story telling shot

It is sad that many photographers break the rules and trample everything. Nice observed.

Hi everyone - thanks so much for all of your favs and for all of your responses and opinions. It was so interesting to read them all, and I could relate to all of them. I was a little annoyed when I saw him there for so long, then he left, I took the second photo, got organized to hike back - looked around and saw my daughter in the same spot as he had been! She'd jumped the fence to get a super shot with her phone and was back on the track within a minute! I think the worst thing is that if everyone does this it damages the very spot they are photographing because of it's beauty? Tricky isn't it. Cheers Rob :)

Wonderful spot(ted) ;)

So strange that he went up there to take a photo with the tripod that high. Only reason to not use a zoom would be if you were going wide angle, in which case it would be low.

@teriyakih Hi Teriyaki - I don't know quite what he was aiming to achieve - other than a really long exposure. I know he did annoy several groups of people though.. I hope his image was worth it.. :) Thanks for your interest and comment.
