Heath and Bee. by robz

Heath and Bee.

Honey bees are becoming quite rare over here - due to a mite which destroys their hive. So it was good to see this one, with many friends, happily feeding on the native heath.
Always good to see bees, great focus too.I hope they can find something to get rid of the mite, best not to introduce anther bug though!

Favorite picture subject these days for me, but not wanna post em every day :) We have lots of bees in our garden, and offcourse lots of flowers they like... I love the picture, white flowers with a bee on a bit blurred background...

If yu can get them in Oz, read any of the bee books by Dave Goulson ( Sting in the Tale his first one) he explores the demise of European bees in both hemispheres. Scary reading- esp for New Zealanders!!!!

@suzanne234 Hi Suzanne - it was interesting to read Jackie's comment below - Those books would be well worth trying to find - although Jackie says they make scary reading.

@madeinnl Thanks Ko - I liked your comment as I'm not usually much good at catching them with my camera - they usually move too fast. Thanks so much!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hi Jackie - thanks for the reference to the bee books. I mentioned your comment to both Suzanne and Marnie as they both seemed interested in the problem. I'll see if I can get hold of one of his books. Thanks Rob

@golftragic Hi Marnie - If you are interested in any more info Jackie mentioned a series of books on the subject in her comment up above. It does seem to be terrible and not getting any better.

@robz Thanks Rob, but I think I know quite enough for my purposes.
