Annie @annied suggested that I investigate horizontal leading lines to tie in with the current 52 week challenge and the flashofred theme. I found it hard to determine whether or not that were as effective as vertical or diagonal leading lines.
@jgpittenger I like it a whole lot better!! I'd just finishing fiddling with some other things when I put it up - forgot all about L to R!! It seems a good idea to edit - leave for a day or two - then have another look! Must remember it! Funnily enough, I purposely made the Valentine's Day image for the flashofred photos read the wrong way so that the "love hearts' were hard to find. I hated it - but nobody mentioned it. It must be a very subconscious reaction. Thanks so much for your suggestion - Cheers Rob
I don't remember where I was reading about L to R or R to L but whatever I was reading said the horizontals should always go in the direction we read. Going in the opposite direction (according to this article) gave the viewer a sense of instability and they would not linger over the picture. I don't know how well that theory holds true but it seems plausible. I think you did a good job with them here- especially after your switch.
@olivetreeann That's an interesting combination Ann - reading along the horizontal leading lines. What you have said definitely seemed to hold true here. Thanks so much for your ideas!! Cheers Rob
