The speed of the sound of loneliness by rockinrobyn

The speed of the sound of loneliness

Someone very special to me is a wonderful guitar player, vocalist, piano player, intellect, friend, ... pretty much the whole package. I used to sing this John Prine song with him as a duet (and many others), before the unforeseen happenstance of life forced (allowed?) our paths to part ways. I created this selfie to try to fit the song, so please have a listen if you have the time/interest.

The lyrics:

You come home late and you come home early
You come on big when you're feeling small
You come home straight and you come home curly
Sometimes you don't come home at all

So what in the world's come over you
And what in heaven's name have you done
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run

Well I got a heart that burns with a fever
And I got a worried and a jealous mind
How can a love that'll last forever
Get left so far behind

So what in the world's come over you
And what in heaven's name have you done
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run

It's a mighty mean and a dreadful sorrow
It's crossed the evil line today
Well, how can you ask about tomorrow
We ain't got one word to say

So what in the world's come over you
And what in heaven's name have you done
You've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
You're out there running just to be on the run

nice selfie, the light is intense, is it the sun?
July 15th, 2012
@chewyteeth Thanks, Dave. Yes, this is the evening sun coming in and doing it's thing. :)
July 15th, 2012
@chewyteeth Do you mean intense in a good way or bad way? (Just curious because I'm trying to learn...)
July 15th, 2012
Amazing job Robyn, very intense.. Great pose and light. Was the light a sunny window?

and FAV

Thats a sweet but very sad song! Feelings from the heart but never said. Thanks for a poignant moment!
July 15th, 2012
yeah good way, it would only be a criticism if the highlights were blown out but they're nice.
July 15th, 2012
@anzere03 Thank you, Jean. :) Yes, I was using the light through our living room window ... it has been wonderful the past few evenings. Your fav means a lot! :)
July 15th, 2012
@chewyteeth Thank you - I did up the contrast some in processing, so I was wondering if maybe I overdid it. Appreciate your input since you're so good at portraits!
July 15th, 2012
@maggiemae Thank you, Maggie for listening and sharing the moment with me. I appreciate it!
July 15th, 2012
Great selfie...the lyrics are really good. Almost hard to read though..I'll give it a listen later...
July 15th, 2012
A beautiful selfie, Robyb ...love your capture, the pov and the lighting. What a beautiful song. A FAV.
July 15th, 2012
@rockinrobyn
just cos I do em certainly don't mean I'm good! My shoot today yielded some dreadfully bad focus, my eyes seems to be working less well, so I guess that means my photo days are numbered. on closeup nearly all my shots have a focal point somewhere other than the models face.
July 15th, 2012
I enjoyed the song. I've always had a soft spot for sad ones. As for your selfie, I think it's wonderful and certanly goes well with the chosen tune.

I've been getting back to portrait work myself lately and always love seeing a good one. Yours is a good one.
July 15th, 2012
@cromwell Thank you, Crom! Some of the sad ones are the best, if you ask me. I very much appreciate your feedback & supportive comments - look forward to your portraits, too!
July 15th, 2012
@drewhuy Thanks, Drew. Do listen if you have time/inclination - I like to think it's a song you might like. Appreciate the comment and support!
