Monarch butterfly, wings battered by its long journey, spotted in a local park over lunch. This butterfly was very tolerant, because I am not so swift.
Monarch butterflies undertake the longest migration in the insect world, traveling three thousand miles, from the US (central and northeastern) and Canada to spend summer in Mexico's Sierra Madre Mountains.
I have been totally swamped at work and at home over the last few days - this was over the 20 minutes for lunch - so I hope to have time to reply in kind to your generous views over the next few days.

@bill_fe@swilde It was only when I took the image off the camera that I noticed the marks on the wings and damage to the edges.. so frayed! That is what made me think of its journey. Thanks for taking time to comment.
