Long Shadows by rosiekerr

Long Shadows

One more for the blurism technique, which I am having a bit of fun with. These are trees, at sunset, with the sun behind this tree in front, casting a long shadow across the road.
Excellent work, like this one a lot

Lovely blurry shot, you are really mastering this technique. So far all my efforts just look like out of focus shots.

I really like how you've captured the fading sunlight here. The lone tree in the center of the frame is interesting too. Great shot!!

So effective. If you have time, would be v grateful to hear how you shot it ...

@pistache Glad you like it! So... the sun was going down, so I lined up with the sun hidden behind the tree. I have a "dramatic" kind of art setting on my camera that really pumps up the contrasts (helpful when you are looking for strong lines, etc.). I used that setting, took the shot blurry (but only a bit, because I wanted to see the tree trunks), then I experimented in Photoshop (which I am trying to learn), and processed it with the vertical blur (found in the blur gallery), until I was happy. I was looking for strong lines & texture, but didn't want to lose the shape of the trees completely. That's it! :)

Thanks so much for the explanation Rosie @rosiekerr. You certainly succeeded with your aims. After your generous reply I'm going to have to have a go myself!

@pistache I am happy to answer questions... good luck! I just don't do a lot of the generic replies, to save time. I do enjoy looking at everyone's efforts, though... If you do try this, tag me so I can see it. :)

I certainly shall :)
