Remembrance Day by rosiekerr

Remembrance Day

We were lucky enough to be in central Old Town Edinburgh for Remembrance Day ceremonies today. Very moving. An elderly Army veteran was kind to let me take a photo of his many medals, each (I am sure) hard earned... although the sacrifices of so many are overwhelming.

Thanks so much for taking time to visit. Much appreciated.

From 365 I've learned how other countries commemorate the two world wars, and it's so interesting!

Each one is a badge of courage. These people were so brave.

He would be pleased to see that someone was taking such an interest! For the rest of the year, they are in a drawer!

What an honor to be there for the event - and what stories this man could tell. Special photo.

I like the way you shot this, fav.

Did you photograph his face too? I want to see the character, wrinkles. This, too, tells his story, and face isn't necessary. Two different shots.

@ruthfriesen I didn't have his permission and he was really, really aged. I didn't feel comfortable doing that, sorry. It would have been very nice, though!

A wonderful tribute.

This is both stunning and very moving! We attended the ceremonies in Lunenburg today, and even in this small community, there have been so many sacrifices...
