The interior of a pre-civil war log cabin (before 1860), one of the few remaining in St. Louis.
My better half and I were driving home from Costco, for heaven's sake, taking a back road, when I spotted the park from the roadside and we pulled over to investigate. Behold, three pre-civil war log cabins, in a city park, surrounded by suburban houses. We were amazed. This is the interior of a part of one.
You could see, upon close inspection, that each timber had been cut by hand with an axe.
A new local treasure, discovered. :) Thanks, as always, for taking time to visit.

I love how you've composed this, with the two views on either sides and the strong lines and shapes. Just goes to show you must always have a camera with you!
What a wonderful discovery! It looks so well preserved too! It is wonderful when a community takes on the preservation of a building especially one that looks less than grand, but is still of great historic significance.
