@jgpittenger You know, I had the camera on aperture priority, as a setting. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that my aperture was at 10. Duh. I need to do a better job at looking for the settings before I set out, but I am getting too trusting of my camera (which can do amazing things). Your suggestion is spot-on, thank you!
Love the blur in the wings, it give such a sense of the movement and struggle to get airborne. It would be interesting to see a faster shutter speed, but I have a feeling I'd prefer this one - I guess it depends what effect you are after.
