This is a delight! In the thumbnail, I thought something was emerging from the egg. Not as silly a notion as it may seem... Only today I was telling a friend about raising desert tortoises, and when the female had finished laying and burying the eggs, I'd retrieve them, place a dot on the top and put them in the same position in an egg carton until they began to hatch... Kinda looked like this (from a distance...)
