Spanish flower in our conservatory? by rosiekind

Spanish flower in our conservatory?

A friend gave us this plant which is about 6ft 6 in tall (actually I think it's nearly 7ft tall) and we don't know what it's called but we have seen them growing in Spain. It is just one long woody stalk with the few leaves that you can see but has one amazing flower on it! Does anyone know what it is called as we would like to know how to look after it properly and wonder whether it could be cut down a bit. It has been cut down a couple of times by the look of the trunk but we don't want to lose it. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Beautiful flower !

I haven't a clue as to what it is, but after what looks to be a fairly ordinary trunk what a gorgeous flower.

I think it might be a Brugmansia - Angels Trumpet ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brugmansia

I agree with Lisa. I should get more than just one flower on it too. I am not sure about pruning it but know that the one growing in my yard has been transplanted a couple of times and is just now recovering from the trauma of that.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments and especially to Lisa for telling me the name of this flower. I now have a better idea on how to look after it after reading about taking cuttings, etc. from websites
