I'm afraid it's a robin again today. I went hunting for the bittern and realised that I couldn't manage binoculars and the camera. It would have been better with 2 people - one to search with the binoculars and one to take the pics if he was spotted! I understand that there has been a lot of interest in him as a friend who was over in New Zealand at the time saw something on the internet about him being in Willington. Anyway, I walked along the river through very boggy fields but the river side of the gravel pits behind the mound which is supposed to protect the village from the noise of the extraction. I thought there must be some way of getting onto the road where the lorries pass but discovered to my dismay that there were barbed wire fences at every point along the way so I had to walk all the way back. When I looked at my watch, it said 3.40hrs and I panicked and thought I must get back because I had a long way to walk and it would be getting dark. The path runs between the river and the mill pool at the last part of my journey before I got back onto the cycle track and the banks are steep and the "path" is very muddy so I didn't want to walk through there in poor light. I was worried I might fall in the river! The things we do for 365. Thanks for your kind comments about the redpoll and getting him on PP
I actually hate to repeat myself, but your bird shots are more than fantastic, and this is one of them. So I hope ou don't mind if I forget to comment on all of them
Very pretty! I almost had my car locked up in a park one evening as I was a few moment late getting back to the parking lot! The attendant was not too happy as there are more than a dozen entrances that need to be locked up.
