The weather has been glorious today - really warm and sunny. Glorious is a word my mother always used to use so I must be getting old! It is a brilliant description of the weather today though. I saw this comma down Wood Lane this afternoon. It's the first time I've been for a walk all week and what a wonderful walk it was. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and this is the first capture of a butterfly I've made this year. The Quackers have been in and out of the garden all day (mainly in than out!). I've been given a nesting box for them so I'm hoping they will lay some eggs. We've got different arrangements near the front door now because I put their food next to the huge saucer of water as Daisy likes to have a drink in between mouthfuls. I must get them some more food tomorrow as they have nearly eaten what I got last week.
The butterfly is gorgeous...I envy you your beautiful day....it would be so nice to have one on a day off! (it's snowing big, heavy flakes right now!). Sounds like you have two new members in your household now!
Those ducks know which side their bread is buttered! I must say that another 'good thing' today was disturbing butterflies on the way down to feed the hens.
Oh Rosie this is just Beautiful! I love the colors and your focus is perfect!! A Instant Fav for me...and it was a Glorious Day Here in T.X.. to.!! What a wonderful discription!! love it! :)
It's a Comma - (Polygonia c-album) - same family as Fritillaries (Nymphalidae), but distinct from them by the ragged edges to the wings - Fritillaries have much smoother edged wings.
