I have spent 3.75 hours at the brook today in 2 sittings - 2 hours this morning and 1.75hours this afternoon. Bluey has been a bit difficult today as he hasn't been landing on his usual stick but on the undergrowth nearest the water. This fooled me and I had to do a lot of guesswork to decide where I was going to focus my camera. Luckily, I got it right in quite a few shots! And this was one of them. It's not easy actually lining up where he's going to land as he's not there when I have to set the camera up. I think I was lucky to get a catchlight int his eye - more luck than judgement.
I'm afraid my obsession with these beautiful birds has started again and now I shall have difficulty posting anything else. I must get round to sowing my vegetable seeds and concentrate on them a bit but it's difficult when I have the calling to go down the brook to see if he is there.
I was extremely lucky today as I saw not one but 3 kingfishers and 2 tree creepers. I also saw what I think was a goldcrest but of course my camera was on the tripod! I nearly took 2 cameras but couldn't work out my travel tripod and taking 2 tripods would have been a lot to carry.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs and have a good weekend everyone.
Lovely shot, your patience was rewarded. I look forward to following your fortunes with kingfisher shots, amongst other things, thanks for your comments on mine :)
