Red rose by rosiekind

Red rose

21 years ago, I was going through a bad patch and I went to see a Medium. I didn't tell her anything about myself and I was surprised with what she told me. She said that I had a cancer that needed to be cut out - how did she know that? Anyway, I did have an operation for breast cancer. She also told me that although I had been having a horrible time, in June when the roses were blooming I would meet someone who would change my life! Well funnily enough the following June, I met Steve and we started dating which eventually led onto us getting married in 2003 on Valentine's Day. She was very accurate in her prediction so although a lot of people think it's a lot of rubbish, I can assure you that it's not. She also told me that I had a natural affinity with the spirits which I should explore. I didn't actually do anything about that but I have lived in 3 houses where there have been spirits and worked somewhere else where a spirit kept walking down the corridor although I didn't see him. The first house with the spirit was my family home which was a thatched cottage over 400 years old and I used to lay in bed at night and hear the table and chairs moving around downstairs despite the fact that my parents were asleep in bed. The second house where I experienced a spirit was my first home after my divorce. My father sadly dropped down dead in my garden after a massive heart attack and months later when I came home late at night, the boiler which you could hear from the outside wall of my house would be fired up but when I went upstairs to turn it off, it was never on! I think that was my dad telling me that he was still around for me. The third house was a brand new house and I used to sense someone in the house at night walking around the landing. I later discovered that my house was built on the old mortuary site of the Barracks which had been there earlier.

Well, you might say, what has that got to do with roses? It was when the roses were blooming in June that I found Steve so here is a lovely rose that grows in our garden. The house used to be Steve's family home and we moved in in 2004 after his father died. This rose always blooms and is just so pretty that when I see this, I think of my Father in Law - Happy Jack they used to call him as he was always very happy and a lovely man.
What a wonderful story - and a beautiful rose as well.

beautiful rose, Rosie, just lovely. I was told, when I was 11 years old, by a medium - a little old lady, drinking a cup of tea - obviously, she made an impression - that i was always losing things but to not fret about it, because i had a little girl who looked just like me dancing around me all the time who was taking my stuff. when i changed my hair, she changed her hair, when i changed my clothes, she changed hers. she took my stuff and then put it back so i could find it so i would know she was always with me. when i was 24, i developed pain in my abdomen, had many, many tests but nothing showed up. finally, after 3 years, due to bleeding, my doctor performed an exploratory operation but i had to sign a paper saying it was ok to do what he had to do depending on what he found. he found a dermoid teratoma the size of a grapefruit. those are tumors, supposedly twins, on my left ovary, with black hair, baby teeth, bones. sometimes i wonder about it - when i read a stephen king novel about such things, especially! - and still can't get over the fact that something that size was not detected in any of the tests. bones and teeth should have been seen by xrays and ultrasounds., i would think. but, life is stranger than fiction sometimes.

@maggiemae i don't know if you ever read stephen king. i read quite a few of his novels having lived in maine and also having had the same writing professors as he did - so reading his books is interesting because you know when the streets change from real to fiction. in 'pet cemetary' one doctor asks another if he believes in life after death. they discuss these tumors showing up, being twins 'devoured' while still in the womb and the evidence showing up years later in brains when an eyeball opens during an operation to remove a tumor and looks at the surgeon. i remember dropping the book and running down the hallway to my husband. i was completely freaked out. LOL- I ate my twin, i ate my twin! how horrible am I! but most doctors refer to it as a birth monstrosity and the worry is that it can be cancerous. i was lucky, i guess, considering my bio-mom died of ovarian cancer. life is simply a strange and mysterious series of events. thank you, Maggiemae. you feeling all better now?
